BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COMPANY
The company was established back to 1998, under the name of EURO WASTE SLOVAKIA, s.r.o. its main goal being a supply Kappa Štúrovo, with recovered paper from Slovakia, Germany, the Czech Republic and Hungary. The company in 2000 obtained ISO 9001: 2000 certification. Shortly afterwards, a national project was launched to build sorting and pressing plants, with the intention of supporting the collection and sorting of paper from domestic sources and thus eliminating the import of waste paper from abroad. Between 2004 and 2005, there was a fundamental change in the company's business, which was caused by the expansion of sales of waste paper abroad (Austria, Hungary, Germany). Between 2005 and 2006, the sorting and pressing plants started operating, and since 2007 the Štúrovo paper mill has been processing recovered paper - corrugated cardboard almost exclusively from domestic sources.
In 2009, the name of the company was changed from EURO WASTE SLOVAKIA, s.r.o. to Smurfit Kappa Recycling CE, s.r.o.. In 2010, the production of corrugated cardboard in Štúrovo ended. Sorting and pressing plants continued to process paper collected in the regions, but sales went to other paper mills. The goal of Smurfit Kappa Recycling CE, s.r.o. was mainly the supply of the Smurfit Kappa paper group, but also supply of recovered paper to other paper mills from Hungary and Poland, where new paper machines producing corrugated board were launched. During that time, the expansion of supply of waste paper into Mondi Swiecie was also significant.
In April 2017, a significant change in the company took place, when the new owner Mondi SCP, a.s. took over the company's shares. In 2017 the company was renamed to its current name Slovpaper Recycling s. r. o. and now it is based in Ružomberok.
